If you don’t see the answer to your question below, please feel free to contact us directly so that we provide you further insight.

Q. Which airport is the nearest for us to fly into?
A. Calgary International Airport. You can pick up an airport shuttle or hire a car from Calgary. Transfer times: to Canmore/Banff 1 ½ hours, Lake Louise 2 hours – they run hourly from early am to late pm.

Q. How long do we have to be in Canada before we can get married?
A. Legally you could get married the same day as you arrive! However, we recommend you have a couple of days to get used to any time change and orient yourselves.

Q. How do we obtain our license?
A. We will send you the necessary forms before you arrive in town and submit them to the Bureau for you. We will set up an appointment to take you to get your license when you arrive. If either party has been divorced we will require a faxed copy of divorce certificate(s). You need to bring photo ID with you (passport or photo drivers license)

Q. Can we get married any day of the week?
A. Yes, subject to availability of suppliers.

Q. Can we get married outside in the mountains?
A. YES! The majority of our weddings take place outside with spectacular mountain views. There are regulations for outdoor weddings and permits required – ask your coordinator for details. If you are bringing guests we would always recommend booking an indoor backup just in case of inclement weather.

Q. Do you organise weddings all year?
A. Yes, we are lucky to live at the foot of the mountains which look stunning Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall. We can even organise a wedding at the Ski Hill!

Q. Do we have to stick to the packages on your website?
A. NO! All our packages are completely flexible and can be tailored to your individual requirements. For larger weddings we find there are many many variations so we will custom build with you to create the perfect wedding package.

Q. How do we book?
A. Once we have discussed your package requirements via e-mail/phone and perhaps a visit we will send you a Confirmation Agreement. This is your contract for your wedding services and once signed will enable us to secure all your suppliers.
Following by mail will be a wedding pack which will contain all the necessary forms for your completion. In addition lots of useful information and website referrals so you can start choosing flowers etc.

Q. How soon can I book? or When should I book by?
A. Most venues will typically book one year in advance and for groups over 30 we certainly suggest having your venue selected before the one year mark to ensure you get everything you want.

Q. How do we pay?
A. We require a deposit of $1,000 at the time of booking (signing the Confirmation Agreement). This can be paid by cheque in any currency, credit card or wire transfer.
The final balance will be due for payment 1 month prior to the wedding date. We will send you an invoice which will include any changes to the original contract.

Q. Can you help with accommodation and activities?
A. Yes! Let us know your requirements and we will send you information.

Q. Will the wedding be legal when we return home?
A. Yes! A wedding in Canada is recognised as a legal ceremony worldwide. You will receive a marriage statement certificate from the marriage commissioner on the day of the wedding and your official numbered certificate will arrive in the mail a few weeks later.

Q. When we will get our photographs / video?
A. Most photographers will provide you with a “sneak peek” within a few days of the wedding. The remainder of your edited images are typically available within 2-6 weeks, at which time they will be mailed to you on a memory stick or a website link will be provided.

Q. Will you be at our wedding?
A. Yes! A coordinator from Rocky Mountain Weddings will be with you on your wedding day. Starting with your flower/cake delivery, maybe a check up at the hairdresser and be there to coordinate suppliers and guests for the wedding ceremony. If you require additional time for reception set-up etc this can be included at extra cost.

Q. What’s the weather like there?
A. During all seasons mountain weather is known for it’s unpredictability we always suggest checking the weather forecast prior to arrival to check the current weather trends so your guests can dress accordingly.

Q. Winter wedding; what do I wear on my feet?
A. We suggest having two pair of shoes one outdoor pair (these can be white fur boots or any type of show that are easy to walk on snow) and an indoor pair which can be worn for photographs, ceremony, reception etc. We do not suggest open toed or thin dress shoes for outdoors during the winter months, your feet can become extremely cold with snow underfoot.

Q. Winter wedding; do I need a jacket?
A. We suggest bringing a fur cape or wrap if you are planning to do an outdoor ceremony or photographs outdoors. Alternatively you can wear a winter coat and remove it for the ceremony or photographs. We also suggest bringing some gloves.

Q. What is your refund policy?
A. Our $1,000 deposit is non-refundable. Depending on the circumstances we may be able move it to another date pending supplier availability. etc.
